Be cunning, play cunning, and learn how to play craps the ideal way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Current craps evolved from the old English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the ancestry of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard during a siege on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the English, the French headed south and discovered safety in the south of Louisiana where they eventually became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is acquired from the name of the losing toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and across the country. A good many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers can wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he established the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
